The Yetis are coming, the Yetis are coming!!!!

April 29th, 2008

Hey there folks, how you doing? Looking for something fun to do? Well come on down May 10th-11th and ride a Yeti. No, not the creature from the north that lives in the snow and eats wayward travelers, the bicycle Yeti from Durango Colorado. While riding a Yeti creature is a talent, I find it very hard to believe that it would be as much fun as riding a Yeti Cycle.
If you are unfamiliar with what I am speaking of, Yeti is one of the premiere mountain bicycle manufacturers in the world. They have created their distinct frame styles in both hard tails and full suspension. All in all they are sweetness with a capital SWEET.
Saturday May 10th We will have plenty of demo models here at the shop for you to test on the famous Fullerton Loop. Also if you call ahead and reserve a bike there will be a early morning hauling butt ride with Banning and the crew from Yeti. You will get to hang out with Abby and Ariel who are pretty chill, if I do say so myself. Who knows if you get lucky and still feel the need to ride that Yeti creature, John might get dressed up in white and let you strap a saddle to his back as he runs around town. Who knows. As for Sunday May 11th we know and apologize for the fact that we scheduled our event on Mothers’ Day. That being said we will be doing a “Dream Ride” with A&A from Yeti somewhere outside of Fullerton. SSSSHHHHHH it’s a secret. Well we hope to see all of you here, even our road fanatics, you might find you love the dirt.

NO MORE SUNDAYS!!!!!!!

April 17th, 2008

Just to let you all know our new hours are going to be, as of 4-12-2008 MON-FRI 10-7 SAT 10-5! There are no more Sundays, sorry to say. They just didn’t seem practical, in that some employees might end up having to work 6 days in a row with only one day off. As for the future we shall be closing at 6:15 pm on Thursdays so we can go ride the Fullerton Loop. You should all join us for the fun starting May 1st. On another note, we are going to be reworking the website really soon and will need some photos of all of you riding your bikes, hanging out together or just being yourselves. You can email those to info@banningsbikes.com

Bobke kills Sundays!!!!!

April 5th, 2008

So this here is Jesse aka “Bobke”, aka “Va-j-j.”,  and aka “You work here right” and I just wanted to let you all know I finally joined the Bannings Bikes team. “Hey you were already on the team?” Yeah but now I work at the shop under the official title of “Office Manager” but I like to refer to myself as shop gopher. And with changes in employees comes changes in shops and the first big change that we here have voted on is no mas domingos. Yeap that is right no more Sundays. We all like time with our families and friends, and Sundays took away from that. I know that this comes as a bummer to some of you, but just know it means the world to us, and if we are happy then your bikes are happy. If your bikes are happy then you are happy. If you are happy then we are happy. See the logic, it goes much like wheel around and around. Well I got to go. Peace and let’s go ride sometime.

Greatings Race Fans

April 3rd, 2008

Please allow me to pretend that I am getting sleep and that I can once again function on a normal basis.  Get ready for Tikes on Trikes!  That’s right, Banning’s Bikes focused on Women’s Racing in 2008.  Now we focus on the 2024 olympics!  Congrats to Kadyn (Cadence), Maddy, Sophia, and Wolf for entering our hearts and lives for 2008.  It started with Tessa in July of ‘07 and the roster is now full - 3 boy’s, 5 girls.  Do you think we can all drive Bentley’s to the race?  Come on Ball - get on board amigo.  You have the men, you have the women, but do you have the kids?

I want to thank my staff for filling in all of the pieces since my absence and Barrett’s untimely, quick departure from the Banning’s Bikes crew.  These guy’s are the best!!!  Pam, Wolf, and I are in your debt forever.  Speaking of the Banning’s Bikes crew…  Did you know that our weak attempts at having Yale postpone Craig’s acceptance, he will be heading out to the East Coast in June to start his post-grad carrier.

On the last note - Tour of Flanders is quickly apon us.  We will be having a small Belgian get together on Sunday, April 13th in the afternoon.  Admission is a Belgian brew and we will be serving up some Mulles and Frites for the grub.  We will also be having the Fullerton Classic race (ride) with undiscovered areas for the taking.

Cheers to all!

What a great time

March 2nd, 2008

Mix of groups and 1 common interest… riding bikes.  Thanks to everyone who came out tonight.  I think all who joined had a great time to all of the dive bars.  Bobby - great direction to Juke!  Time for serious sleep in my bed - not couch at the shop.  Cheers to all who came and sorry for those who missed out.  So, until Belgian Classic night, ride safe all!

Pink Green and Argyle

February 28th, 2008

Let the good times roll my amigos!!!  The time has come for the Preppy Ride To Dive Bars, where my two favorite pastimes collide.  So, dust your nighttime riders, loosen up that team kit for a little logo polos and golfer pants and let the real games begin.  I remind myself of the bi-annual SuperTeam rides as we all put a big smile on our faces and derby until the sun comes up.

A word to the wise, watch a little guy on a Peacock Groove – he is repressed and mad about it.

‘08 Custom

February 14th, 2008

I just saw the photo’s from the Handbuilders show, where our man Dario took top honors.  Man them bikes ‘em purdy!!!  So, after seeing the show gain success, I am predicting that custom is back.  It seems that our amigo’s riding the fixed, to our amigo’s riding the Ti, that many are starting to look for the material and fit that goes most with them.  I say…. KUDOS!  Handbuilders are the root of our passion - amazing engineers, craftman and artists with very little dollars to in return.  They only get smiling faces and tired legs to compliment them on their work.  I do have to say, I was impressed with the photos of our customs - Lynsky with the Luck of the Irish, Calfee with the increadible townie bamboo, and of course (looking healthy again) Dario.

So, what inspiration can we take to our little shop in the N. OC?  Sometimes playing outside of the box, not for dollars, but because it is a wholelatafun, is well worth its’ price of admission.  So, hold on for a little scavenging on the 1st of March and happy playing on self pedalled two wheeled toys for ‘08.

Thanks to Blake and Joe from Mello Velo for stoppin by, congrats to our new mothers and fathers (both present and future).  Banning’s Bikes and Nursery allez!
